Culture Clash Review April 11, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I really wish I had bought this book when we got our puppy. It covers everything and we are getting results from all her methods. I have mentioned it to our local dog trainer and he recommends it too.
It is a really good buy and the only criticism may be that it is quite wordy and specific on psychology. However, once you find the problems you are experiencing, the solutions are very easy to understand and carry out.
No better book on dog training than this. February 10, 2007 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
If you have a dog - buy this book. This is the one you MUST have. Her writing style takes a while to get into, but now I devour it. So no-nonsense, practical, sensible.

I love this book, so why only 4 stars? Because the overly "wordy" nature of the book leaves my partner cold and she refuses to read it, which really disappoints me as this has to be the best dog book I've read so far (I've only read 4, but this is head-and-shoulders above the others). It also drops a star because, as somebody else mentioned, although the content is exceptional, it can be a little disorganised. Neither of these points should put off a true dog-lover though! All this talk of dominance and heirachy in dogs is nonsense, and Jean Donaldson really shows you why with this book.
Personally I really love the detail that she goes into in order to explain the way dogs think. An absolutely fantastic book that I would highly recommend to anybody who, like me, is new to dogs and dog training.
Fantastic book October 8, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This book is the most informative dog book I've ever read. It is written in very clearly and is easy to understand. I would definetely recommend this book to dog owners.
EXCELLENT! August 10, 2006 24 out of 25 found this review helpful
Clear, concise and compassionate. Written with great insight and a good dose of humour. I really enjoyed this book, its gave me a great deal of help when introducing a new dog to the house - and helped me realise how I had manage to screw things up so badly first time around!
Previously I had read the dog whisperer woman (and found her more interested in telling you how fabulous she is, than how to understand dogs) and "its me or the dog" (totally lacking any substance - purely a book of the TV series to make more dosh on the back of a TV series...waste of time)....this book is head and shoulders above them both!
