Miss it... Miss Out!June 13, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have never been compelled to review a book on such a site before, however after reading this book i feel i owe it to everyone out there who has not yet had the opportunity to pick it up and spend 3 hours being sucked in to quite possibily one of the best books i've ever read.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is written from the point of view of a boy with Asperger's Syndrome. Not only does it give you an incite into this condition but it also gives you a completely different way to look at the world.
The book manages to take the reader on a roller coaster of emotion where as Christopher just takes it in his stride. It gives you the feeling of envy for being so detached yet it yanks at your heart strings as you feel for the boy yourself.
I'm not a great review writer but i just felt the urge to encourage anyone and everyone to read this book. Whether your 4 or 84 (childs version is available) go out and get a copy. DON'T MISS OUT!!!

I went to see 'snowcake' at the cinema at the same time as I read this book which gave me insight into autism. Very interesting and incredibly well written I thought. I think it must be hard to write well anyway without having to think how things would appear to an autistic child.
A good read for everyoneJune 4, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love books that will appeal to anyone regardless of their age/education/interests... Curious Incident is a fabulously researched and beautifully written book which tugs at the heartstrings without ever being soppy. With it's slightly off the wall nature it ought to appeal to fans of The Life of Pi and Holes.

I recieved this book at precisly 11am today by post. It is now 16:30 exactly and ive finished it somewhere in the past half hour... For me to actually sit down and read a book like that is something i havent done since i was about 12. This book is amazingly insightful and provides a view of a world we rarely get to see into. My little brother suffers from autism too so i actually bought this book just out of curiosity..and to see the world through his eyes makes everything so much clearer. The book is also wonderfully funny and there are some pretty random little facts that tickled me. It isnt a challenging read but this should not discourage anyone. It is unlike anything ive every read and you should most definatly give it a go.

this book is written by someone with a type of mentall illness called autism. this is very interesting as they are slightly deranged and think and say strange things and it is an interesting insight into the person's mind. the story is like a murder mystery with the author trying to work out who killed a dog but other things happen also. overall i would say it is worth reading.
