A Fantastic Machine for the Money December 4, 2008 I bought one of these for my wife last Christmas and what a great gift it's turned out to be. She loves using it and we both love the results! In fact, until somebody really clever invents a quality domestic breadmaker that doesn't bake the paddle into the middle of the loaf, it's hard to point to anything that could be improved significantly here. Oh, and do not forget the pizza dough programme - rolled thinly with a smear of tomato, a little fresh mozarrella, basil and ham and then 18 mins at 220C..........mmmmm.
Great bread December 3, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had this breadmaker for nearly a year now. Before that I had a pretty poor model that cost around about 30, but it gave me an introduction to breadmaking and now I use this Panasonic several times a week. As I don't think it is possible to get good wholemeal bread in the shops unless you're lucky enough to be able to afford the Dove's Farm types on a regular basis, I think this is the answer. You can make 100% wholemeal bread on down to 50% wholemeal breads. They're all really good and the rapid versions do not decline in quality. A rapid version of the wholemeal loaf takes 3 hours. Well, one man's rapid... I've also used it to make pizza dough which is a breeze and very good. The recipe book is very comprehensive. I have not missed the nut/seed dispenser although I did think it would be good to have at first. A great gadget. As a bloke it's also quite satisfying using a gadget to do this and know that the results will always be great.
Amazing..... November 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Would just like to say to anyone who still hasn't quite made up their mind - buy this one now!! I have had mine for three months now and have only bought one supermarket loaf in that time which tasted gross by comparison to the Panasonic's loaves. I have a family of four incl. 2 teenage boys and so use this machine every day (sometimes twice a day!) - I set it on the timer when I go to bed and come down to perfect bread. It has never disappointed and I reckon I've already made back the money spent on the machine. I have never made bread before now but thought I would buy this to see what all the fuss was about - I did think it might end up in the shed with the footspa but it is never out of use and is amazing. (Don't bother paying the extra for the nut dispenser though - you probably won't use it!)
Panasonic SD254 Breadmaker November 17, 2008 I have had a couple of breadmakers, and although this was a bit more than I wanted to pay, it has been definitely worth it. It was so easy to get used to, and the bread has been the best from any breadmaker I have had. I have tried a few of the doughs and tried adding seeds to the bread mixture, all of which have turned out brilliantly. Shop bread comes a definite second best in comparison. In fact I never buy bread now. this is a great machine and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
