O.M.G! November 28, 2008 Once in a while a book comes along that gives you goosebumps cause you just know you can't put it down. From the first chapter I was absolutely hooked, yes there are a lot of characters but each one is portrayed so beautifully that instead of feeling over crowded, this book just bursts with life. Even though he is SO foul I couldn't get enough of Sebastian and I found myself almost fantasising over Benedict! Why can't we have men like this in real life?!? The author has been compared to Jilly Cooper but I don't think that does either of them justice; Jilly was fab in her day but Carnegie has a modern fresh irreverent appeal that embraces the 'bonkbuster' genre wholeheartedly but has a lot of fun with it in the process. Fabulous!
Brilliant November 9, 2008 Absolutely brilliant although the abundant use of 'Yah' did annoy me. (We don't actually talk like that Miss Carnegie) However it is excellent, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The only thing I will say is that non-one will ever come up to Jilly Cooper, however this book has come almost slightly close. Can't wait for the next one.
What a load of old cobblers... October 23, 2008 2 out of 10 found this review helpful
Sorry but I have to disagree with all the other reviewers. Having read so many five stars, and being a mad Jilly C fan I thought I was onto a winner, sadly this is the biggest bunch of drivel I have read, well I only got up to page 33 but lifes too short to waste even a few hours on this one. Too many jumps to different characters, this person in churchminster, that person in churchminster, Caro, Calypso, Clementine etc, definitely too much and didnt even care about any of them I am afraid... I really do think Jilly C could sue.. Churchminster - Rutminster, Sebastian - Rannaldini, I would advise if you havent read Jilly C, do so, if you have read her again instead of this! If I could give it no stars I would.

My first read of a 'bonk-buster' and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The plot develops well and the characters hold your interest - are real people (at least I know some like them!).
A cracking good read.

Let's all up sticks to Churchminster! September 29, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Churchminster is the village we all wish we could live in or at the very least, visit for a cheeky weekend getaway. With a wonderful array of outlandish characters the novel gets straight to the point with a huge slosh of sauce a mere 4 pages in. The multiple story lines are cleverly woven together and we can't help but rally with the villagers when the future of Churchminster is in jeopardy. Carnegie delivers all you could want; from sex, superstars and a good old murder mystery. For an all round entertaining read this is a must and will certainly get you hot under the collar of your Barbour jacket!
