I won't cry, I don't miss it July 12, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I will never, ever, for as long as I live forgive my mother for giving this book away (when I was 18 to my 3 year old cousin but that's immaterial). I read it every Christmas Eve when I couldn't fall asleep (a bad idea since the picture perfect Christmas it portrayed made me more excited not less). My favourite parts were the Salvation army band coming to play and the gifts Lucy and Tom got their family. The perfect Christmas gift for any child, or me, if you're feeling generous?
The perfect Christmas book for young children November 9, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I say young children, but at 24 I love any excuse to read this with the kids I childmind for, especially now that Christmas is coming! The pictures are just beautiful, completely capturing the magic of Christmas, not easily available in stores either.
Perfect book for Christmas November 4, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This has been a favourite with my children for a number of years. It captures the gentle magic of Christmas as you would expect from Shirley Hughes. The illustrations capture the family with overtired children and patient grandparents. Lovely to read with your children.
