Amazon.co.uk Review Dogger is the endearing story of how Dave's beloved Dogger was lost and found. Winner of the 1977 Kate Greenaway Medal, Dogger is a timeless classic which, in simple words and detailed pictures, shows the distress the loss of a toy causes a child, as well as the reality of family life. Filled with humour and Shirley Hughes' deft touch, this is a book for young readers to tackle by themselves, as well as a delight to read aloud. A Big Book edition is also available.

A true children's book August 11, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the book that stands out from my younger years. I had it - we read it at school - my friends owned it. Shirley Hughes definitely knows what she's doing when it comes to writing for little children. It is original, it is sympathetic, and it is a cute story. Without a doubt, I recommend it!
Lovely August 5, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is such a lovely story I would recommend it to all teachers and parents of young children. The children in every class I have taught in have loved this book. The pictures are beautiful and the story is fantastic. It helps children to examine a number of issues and dilemmas at their own level. I would recommend it as suitable for 4-7 year olds.
Inspirational to all April 5, 2004 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
The story of Dogger is both movinig and inspirational about a child who has lost his beloved toy. This story can help other children who have for exmaple have lost toys or a pet to cope and deal with the situation. A book for all!!!
Loved it! December 3, 2003 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
What a lovely book, I bought it for my daughter when she was small and she adored it, now I'm looking for the hardback version for her now she is nearly seventeen. She has asked for it to keep and to give to her children one day.

I used to covet this book when my big brother owned it, and now I can buy my own copy! I just remember the lovely feeling it gave me: the illustrations, the story, it is delightful from cover to cover. I want my kids to read it some day...
